Alix Loosle... Indeed you are talented!

Last year sometime my bestie Ryan had some fun vintage-y pictures taken. When I saw them I got so excited because they were just my style! I dialed her up right that minute to find out who had the talent to take such photos! She told me her name was Alix Loosle and I gave her a jingle.

Being so busy with work and such having a photo shoot with her got pushed back. Well, last night it finally happened! She was willing to drive up to SLC from Utah County (which is kind of a far drive) and take my first set of photos for my website! Some of my girlfriends came to wear my 'hair raising pretties' and be lovely models. To them all- I appreciate it so much!

Alix won't have my photos to me for a couple weeks, but I just wanted to share some of the pictures she has taken in the past. They are incredible! You can also follow her blog here. There is also a link to you're right that will take you straight to her blog! Not only is Alix super talented, she has very reasonable pricing.

Enjoy! :)

P.S.- All her photos on her website as well as blog are copyrighted (which they should be) and so I can't post any of them on here.... You will just have to click on the links to see for yourself!

Score! I FINALLY found vintage netting!!!

For the past almost year I have searched far and wide to get my hands on some vintage netting. So lucky was I, to find some on eBay after searching the internet for almost 3 hours! Since then it has been almost impossible to find any in a color other than snowy white. Well, yet again, eBay- You are my HERO! There is a lady that has oodles of it in almost every color. If I knew her name I would sing her praises. For now I will just call her the 'Net Lady'. Net Lady- you are wonderful!

For those of you who don't know what 'vintage netting' is- Here is a picture!

Have a happy hip hop hoppity day!

Yellowfield 7.... DELIGHTFUL!

The 20's have always inspired me. Not only do the 20's inspire me, so do the 30's, 40's, and all those years in between up until the 60's. If I could take a time machine back, or have a genie come to me with 3 wishes- one of them would be to live back during that time period. Just the style and the way things were back then is breathtaking. No annoying cell phones, text messages, and a million other technological things pulling us in all directions. Life was simple. People looked forward to hand written letters coming in the mail, and something as simple as a stroll through the neighborhood.

My great grandparents met at the end of the 30's. My grandmother had come to visit some friends in Idaho (she was from Utah). She was walking down the street after church and one of her heels broke. My great grandpa happened to be driving by right when this happened and pulled over to help her. He had heard there was a beautiful girl in town visiting, but had no idea this was her. They got to talking and he started to call her Utah girl. It was love at first site. He fixed her shoe for her, and then asked her to dinner. The rest is history. They eloped in the summer of 1941. My great grandma (Esther) was only 18, and so they didn't want to tell their parents. After eloping, they both went their separate ways- he back to Idaho and she back to Utah. They communicated through letters for 2 months before they finally let their families know they were married! My great grandmother told me before she passed that her Mother had known the entire time, just from the way she had been acting. I guess even then it was hard to keep things from you're parents.

When my Bestemor passed (Bestemor means great grandmother in Norwegian) I was able to get some of her jewelry as well as some fabrics she had collected over the years. These will always be special treasures to me. One thing I wish she would have kept was the old hats she used to wear.

A few months back I came across a website of a woman who makes 20's inspired hats! I was so excited because they reminded me of my great grandmother and something she would have worn. The name of her line is Yellowfield 7. Her elegant hats can be found here. They are quite expensive, but totally worth it! She has said on her site that each hat takes her between 15-20 hours to create. In turn it will fit you're pretty little head perfectly like a glove.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Interview with Renny

Yesterday I was honored to have my friend Renny Richmond do an interview for Bello De Epoca! This being my first interview I was super nervous, but it turned out great! We did a video interview and a small photo shoot to show off some of the new hair clips I've made recently.

Renny has lot's of experience in the film industry, and is very talented at what she does. She is going to share some of that talent by starting a blog called theyawpblog.blogspot.com. She will be featuring Utah's own local artists. I was lucky enough to be featured and interviewed!

Check out her blog in a couple of weeks to see my interview! Thanks again so much Renny, you're the best!

Happy Birthday Nie Nie

Stephanie Nielson is one amazing woman. Today is her 29th birthday. I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I appreciate and look up to you. You have endured more in just the past few years than most will in their lifetime. Even though you have to juggle being a Mom, endless doctor visits, and I'm sure excruciating pain, you still have the most positive attitude of anyone I have ever known. It would be an honor to meet you, Mr. Nielson, and you're adorable children.

Even though you are sick on you're birthday, I want to wish you the very best. Happy happy birthday.

You can check out Nie Nie's blog here.

I wish you all a beautiful sunny Sunday.

Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?

Thinking back on this week I have gone from a worst.day.ever. to the rest of the week being super amazing! Life is full of surprises and every time my life takes a spin it always makes me think of something my Mom has always told me. Ever since I was a little girl she has always told me that a positive attitude will get me to wherever I wish to go. More times than not, she is right. I've learned so much about myself just in the last week and hope to have many more amazing weeks to come!

One of my many favorite blogs I follow is called Rockstar Diaries. Naomi is the creator of it, and is someone i really look up to. She has such a positive attitude and seems like such a genuinely happy person. People that have positive attitudes I think like my Mom has said, will get farther in life. Naomi in the past has had people put 'Happy List's' on her blog. They list 10 things that make them irresistibly happy. I just wanted to take a minute and list not 10, but 20 things that make me VERY happy!!

1. The smell of freshly cut grass in the summertime.
2. Running until I can't run anymore to get my stress/anger out
3. Hugs from my Daddy (He is my hero)
4. Sour Patch Kids
5. Vintage clothing/jewelry,antique stores, thrifting
6. Audrey Hepburn movies
7. Biking up the canyon
8. Red lipstick/nailpolish
9. Sushi
10.Kisses on the forehead
11. My Mom's homemade mashed potatoes
12. Tyson's sense of humor
13.An unexpected note
14, Car washes
15. Doing the dishes (I know I'm weird...)
16. Green apple Jelly Belly's
17. Anthropologie kitchenware
18. Gerber daisies
19. Star gazing
20. Discovering a new favorite song that you can't help but play over and over and over again

I'm so grateful for my life and the people in it. God is very mindful of me, and I feel very blessed. Try and smile a little more this next week. i know I will be. :)
